The best Android reminder apps in 2026: how to choose
We make NudgeLater, so it is one of the examples. We limit ourselves to apps whose Google Play listings we read on 29 September 2026, and we do not rank by rating, because ratings mostly reflect popularity and age.
Start with your need, not the app
Reminder apps look alike but solve different things. Choose your category first.
1. “I need a to-do list with due dates and sync”
Look at Google Tasks (com.google.android.apps.tasks). Its listing describes lists, subtasks, dates with notifications, syncing across devices and creating tasks from Gmail.
2. “I jot notes and want some to come back”
Look at Google Keep (com.google.android.keep). Its listing describes notes, lists, photos, voice memos, labels, search, sharing, and setting a reminder to bring a note back.
3. “I keep finding links, videos and places and want them to return”
This is a smaller category, and the one NudgeLater is built for:
- NudgeLater: share, tap a time preset, get a notification. No account, no ads, local only. Free; optional Pro for 2.99 EUR one-time.
- RemindLink (
com.remindlink.app): a bookmark manager with reminders, tags, widget, recurrence and export, per its listing. - Remindly (
com.app.remindly): share-menu reminders with natural-language times and a timeline of upcoming and past reminders, per its listing.
See the detailed NudgeLater vs Remindly vs RemindLink comparison.
4. “I want the simplest timer-like reminder”
The Play Store has many small apps for this. For example Remind Me Later! by Mobile Abbs (com.mobileabbs.remindmelater) is listed as a paid app (about 4.09 EUR at the time of checking) for setting a note to remember after a duration. We have not tested it.
Criteria to check on any app
| Criterion | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Works from the Share menu | Fewer steps means you use it |
| Notification actions (open, snooze, done) | You can act without opening the app |
| Survives reboot and time changes | Otherwise reminders vanish silently |
| Needs an account? | Convenience vs privacy |
| Data safety section on Play | What the developer says it collects |
| Ads | Can distract at the moment you need focus |
| Price model | One-time, subscription or free with ads |
A reasonable setup
Many people are best served by two tools: a general to-do app for tasks, and a share-to-reminder app for “look at this later”. If you only choose one, choose according to whether your reminders are mostly tasks or mostly links.
